The combination of fruit from 17 Western Cape sites, including Grenache Blanc (Piekenierskloof), Clairette Blanche and Fernão Pires (Swartland), plus Semillon (Elgin) and Verdelho (Voor Paardeberg), brought together in this defining blend created from Pieter's conscious brain. His favourite barrels, tank selections and varietals from a range of different sites across the winelands, then aged 10 months in old French oak.

Winemakers don't come much more creatively brilliant than the genius that is Pieter Walser. He's the sort of man that's had more fantastic ideas before breakfast than we manage in a whole week and that talent shines through in his wines. Each comes with a story often as captivating as they are mystifying so we've asked him to record a few to give you an insight into the magic behind the vino!

Aromatic and lifted nose of raspberry, plumb, white pepper and red berries. A beautifully layered, textural palate with wild strawberry and spice on the finish.

Beautiful garnet red colour. Fresh cherry and dried cranberry nose with a concentrated palate of sweet spice, dried dark fruit, coffee and raisins. A long and elegant finish.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant'Urbano is produced from grapes grown on the organically farmed Sant'Urbano hillside vineyard. The grapes are hand-selected, dried for 110 days, and then macerated for 28 days. The wine is aged in French and Slavonian oak barrels before bottle refinement.

Deep, intense violet colour with aromas of  plums, raspberries, black fruits, blackberries. Subtle notes of strawberry, floral and violets. In the mouth this wine displays more mineral and earthy tones, balanced with structured, ripe tannins.

A very rare grape variety, mostly found in the Canary Islands, particularly Tenerife. The vines are 'pie franco' or ungrafted ancient specimens that thus far have managed to avoid the dreaded Phylloxera bug which devastated many European vineyards in the 19th century. The wine is complex, concentrated and flinty with aromas of green herbs, apples and quince. 6 months in barrel and on its lees has given the wine a beautiful texture and long, saline finish.

Ripe in dense black cherry, blueberry and raspberry. This wine has a delicious juiciness that keeps it balanced in the glass. A firmness of acidity supports the well-integrated tannins and lithe fruit, while the finish brings a swirl of cinnamon, baked red apple and vanilla.

Colour dense, darkly garnet. Nose is full of bright aromas with intense notes of black fruits. In taste of tone of ripe red and black berries, slightly oaked, earthy flavours with good tannin structure, with pleasant, balanced, juicy acidity. Complex Christmas cake character. Soft and fleshy on the palate with mocha notes. Excellent body in the mouth point to a long life in the bottle.

Savoury and elegant wine coming from vineyards of more than 20 years located at the core of the village Nukriani in Signaghi area. Kakheti. Georgia. 

Budeshuri Saperavi is a distinct bio-type of Saperavi , native to the Kakheti region. It is traditionally cultivated in small plots for its aromatic refinement and natural balance. The name “Budeshuri” is believed to reference its historical origin in the Budeshe area near Telavi. Compared to the more widespread Saperavi Didi (large-berried clone), Budeshuri has smaller berries and thinner skins, resulting in wines of greater concentration, finesse, fragrance, and precision.

We've managed to get hold of this very special aged parcel of 2012 Nebbiolo from Poderi Colla in North West Italy. Grab a bottle while you can!

Delicious lifted aromatics of liquorice, blood orange, redcurrant and ripe red fruit on the nose, mingling with bitter black cherry, violets and notes of leather on the palate. A richly flavoured and multi-layered wine combining vibrant acidity, perfectly poised tannins and rich spicy fruit.

The wines undergo maturation in a combination of French and Slavonian oak (some new and some 2 year old) for 12 - 18 months depending on the vintage. The wine is then racked into stainless steel.

Drinking non alcoholic wine doesn’t have to be a bore. This is a wonderful, smooth, fruity de-alcoholised version of French Merlot, that just might give you placebo effect that wine with booze gives you!
