Cerasuolo di Vittoria is lifted and floral pure aromas of sweet violets, black cherries and hints of wet stone. It impresses further with silky textures that envelop the palate in bright red and blue fruits, along with a refreshing wave of juicy acidity. Hints of spiced orange and inner florals linger long through the lightly structured finale. This is an equal-parts blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato that is aimed at immediate satisfaction, but in a nicely balanced style.

A new Cellar Door Wines favourite! The lesser known Susumaniello grape is native to the South Italian region of Puglia. We love it for its rich aromas of blackcurrants, cherry and cranberry. On the palate it has ripe black cherry fruit with savoury notes of black olive and tomato with a sweet cocoa powder finish.

Roberto Gatti spent 20 years as cellarmaster and viticulturalist at Bellavista, one of the early pioneers of the Franciacorta region, before creating Ferghettina in 1990. A new winery and cellars, started in 2002, were completed in 2005 and sit in a magnificent location overlooking the beautiful Lake Iseo. Roberto is assisted by his daughter Laura, also an oenologist, shortly to be joined by his son Matteo. The Gatti's control production of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, using only half of the grapes available for their production of 300,000 bottles. Meticulous attention to detail, skillful blending and long bottle maturation give wines of great finesse and individuality. The 'Italy's answer to Champagne' tag is unavoidable but these wines are much more than that.

As a naturally petillant/sparkling wine, this has been bottled before the primary fermentation is complete, so the fermentation process continues in the bottle to produce a natural spritz.

Francesco Anne Santi's family has been farming for generations, but she decided to turn her stables into a wine cellar and a new business was started.

Slightly cloudy with an orangey-pink hue. A delicate spritz with fine well-lasting bubbles for a Pet Nat. Flavours of green apple, white peach, unripe melon give the mouth a blast of freshness whilst a touch of biscuit character adds complexity. Much cleaner and less funky than you would expect from a Pet Nat.

A silky and juicy red wine. An aroma of red berries with wild thyme that take you to notes of liquorice, raspberry leaf, cherry and herbs.

A rich and aromatic Sauvignon with wonderful complexity on the nose and palate. Ageing and maturation on the lees for 6 months, partly in stainless steel tanks and partly in large wooden barrels give this special Alto Adige Sauvignon Blanc a weight and structure that sets it apart from others.

Complex bouquet showing typical rose nuances as well as layers of spice and woodland fruits. The palate is full-bodied, with hints of cherry, dark chocolate and prunes with firm sweet tannins on the finish. The sweet ripe berry fruit makes it approachable now or can be cellared for 10 years.

Barbaresco Tenuta Roncaglie is made from Nebbiolo grapes cultivated in Poderi Colla's vineyards in the Roncaglie area. As early as 1880, Roncaglie was already recognised as one of the best and most important areas for Barbaresco production, and mentioned in Lorenzo Fantini's important publication on Viticulture and Oenology in the Province of Cuneo. Several years on Daniel Thomasas, in the January 2005 issue of Wine Spectator, wrote: 'Roncaglie is acknowledged to be one of the best crus in the whole of Barbaresco.' The Poderi Colla vineyards have a southerly exposure and is situated at between 240 and 280 metres above sea level. Some of the vines were planted in 1970, some in 1980 and some in 1995. Vine density is around 4,000 to 5,000 plants per hectare and the average yield is 4,000 litres per hectare. Harvesting is usually done between 5th to 15th October. The Nebbiolo grapes (Lampia and Michet subvarieties) are destalked and pressed and the must is macerated on the skins for around 12 to 15 days at 30 degrees Centigrade. This if followed by a malolactic fermentation which is completed before the winter. The wine is transferred to some Slovinian and some French oak casks (partly new) and left to mature for 12 to 14 months. After maturation with wine is racked to stainless steel vats and clarified with egg whites before bottling.

Black cherries, earthy tones and hints of tanned leather. Soft, supple in texture with a ripe berries and savoury notes, juicy acidity, silky tannins. Dry, minerally, structured and very long finish . Gorgeous. Drinking window: now - 2035

Pelaverga is not a very widely grown grape variety, native to the Verduno commune in Piemonte. The soil in this area of the North West of Italy is rich in clay and gypsum crystals. ArnaldoRivera have hand harvested the rare Pelaverga grapes. Sometimes also labelled as 'Basadone' which translates as 'little kiss' the Pelaverga grape is known locally as a supposed aphrodisiac!

Pale, lemon yellow colour, fresh, light and zippy with an aromatic and herbal note. Aromas and characters of roses, red apples, citrus and white flowers.

Organic

Amoterra means to ‘love the land’, this is the vineyards ethos. The harvesting period of the Trebbiano starts from the second week of September. As soon as the grapes arrive in the cellar they are crushed and de-stemmed, then softly pressed. Cold maceration for 24 hours at 8 degrees. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel for about 10-15 days.

A classic Barolo offering structure and elegance, with a red fruit base, floral notes, and hints of spice and tobacco. Perfumed and bright, very approachable yet serious and complex. Polished tannins and fresh acidity lead to a long, persistent finish, showing both immediate appeal for drinking now and excellent ageing potential.
