Pelaverga is not a very widely grown grape variety, native to the Verduno commune in Piemonte. The soil in this area of the North West of Italy is rich in clay and gypsum crystals. ArnaldoRivera have hand harvest the rare Pelaverga grapes.

A stunning, elegant red from the volcanic Canary Island of Tenerife. Made from a field blend of red and white indigenous grape varieties, some from very ancient vines up to 150 years old. Passel Estate, founded by Wendy and Barry Stimpson, is in the heart of the spectacular Margaret River region. Their six hectares of vineyards are surrounded by an impressive granite outcrop and a pristine nature reserve of ancient flora. Sea breezes from the Indian Ocean provide calming relief in the hot summer months and this special location not only produces some of the region’s finest wine grapes, but also provides sanctuary to the endangered Western Ringtail Possum, whose collective noun is a "Passel”!

Food Match: We love this wine for its complexity of aromatics and concentration of flavours on the palate. White fish with fresh asparagus or Samphire is a great pairing.

The nose has notes of lemony cream, green apple, white peach, yellow plum fruit and delicate orange blossom notes. The palate is full, wide and oily with the most delicious texture, mixed with lime, citrus, granny smiths, white pepper and vanilla. Beautifully balanced, linear and elegant.

You’ve probably heard of the quaint beach town of Hermanus, situated on South Africa’s famous Whale Coast. Between 1855 and 1902, it was called Hermanuspietersfontein. In 1902, the local postmaster decided to shorten the name of the town to make addressing letters to the locals easier.

150 years later, the wine farm Hermanuspietersfontein, or HPF for short, craft outstanding wines with a serious sense of place. Their grapes come from Sondagskloof (they produce 90% of WO Sondagskloof wine), which competes with Elgin and the Ceres Plateau for South Africa’s coolest wine growing region. This area is perfectly suited to Bordeaux varietals and, with the exception of Shiraz, is exclusively planted with them.

The Afrikaans wine names might look like a bit of a mouthful, but they are good fun; Bloos (‘blush’), Kaalvoet Meisie (‘barefoot girl’), Kat Met Die Houtbeen (‘cat with the wooden leg’), Posmeester (‘postmaster’), Kleinboet (‘little brother’) and Swartskaap (‘black sheep’).

Light, fruity dry red wine with subtle tannins. Full of red and black fruit character - cherry, blackcurrant, cloves with a velvety finish.

Casa Althay is a relatively new winery built in the heart of La Geria, just outside the village of Uga. They work with traditional viticulture including many of the craters, which lie next to the winery itself. The wines combine a beautiful creamy textural element with a saline, mineral precision. These are wines of exceptionally high quality and character.

Honey and floral undertones on the nose. This floral fruity sake has delicate flavours of white flowers and pears with a slight hint of white pepper. Finishes nicely with a lemony acidity.

Amphora wines are in fashion these days and are produced all over the world. While making wines in amphora (qvevri) may have originated in Georgia , it is Portugal that has the world’s only appellation dedicated to wines made in amphora. In Alentejo, these vessels go by the name “talha”. It is derived from the Latin word “Tinalia” which refers to a large pot or vessel. 

Portuguese wine from amphora in Alentejo dates back to Roman times, around 2000 years ago. Although the traditions have persisted in the region, it’s only recently that the wines have had a commercial renaissance. Many of the wineries, big and small, have added Vinho de Talha wines to their portfolio.

A bold inky Graciano, with burst of black current cherry and raspberry with delicious savoury notes of herbs and added depth of cocoa.

Offering great enjoyment in its youth, especially once decanted for a couple of hours, but BOREAS has a long future ahead and will develop in complexity over the next 10-15+ years.

Complex aromas of redcurrant, plum and red cherry with cedar  and spice notes with a hint of pencil shaving. The predominance of Cabernet Franc gives a wine an elegance with lifted berry fruit and a supple, finely structured mid palate. Firm yet fine tannins frame the spicy, long finish.

Penny's new obsession is the rare, native grape variety of Nascetta. This beautiful ageworthy white has lemon zest, green pear and white pepper on the nose, with hints of wild fennel and saltiness. A precise and balanced, mouthfilling mid-palate with a long, saline finish.

Inzuzo means benefit in two of the main South African languages Zulu and Xhosa. The Inzuzo Wine Company is a BEE project spearheaded by Journey's End wines in Stellenbosch and run by one of their talented winemakers, Kaylin Willscott. Kaylin grew up in the poverty stricken Sir Lowry's Pass area. Kaylin's story is integral to the heart of the Inzuzo brand. As a Cape Wine Guild protégée and one of the few women of colour winemakers in South Africa, her journey is a powerful narrative of talent, determination, and community upliftment in South Africa.

Aromas of crushed, black fruit, damson, mint, oak and mocha.

Rich, almost succulent black fruit which has great purity and exuberance. Impressive concentration and elegance.

This tiny property of 1.3 hectares has seven parcels spread throughout the Pomerol appellation, positioned between Clos René, Château Trotanoy, Château Nénin, and next to Château Le Pin.

Château Feytit-Guillot truly benefits from these wonderful plots on the plateau. The vines have an average age of forty years and are always entirely hand-picked before undergoing traditional fermentation and aging in oak barrels for 14 months. The wine is pure and understated for a Pomerol, with a fresh nose and floral aromas on the palate. It is also one of the best value Pomerols on the market.

Pomerol is a much respected red wine appellation in the Bordeaux region of South ­Western France. Both historically and physically, it stands apart from other Bordeaux appellations. It does not conform to the accepted image of a Bordeaux wine­ district as being a wealthy, Chateau-­laden area with an all ­important classification system. Pomerol is none of these things, yet has managed to earn itself a place among the world's most revered wine region.

A wonderfully mature Chardonnay character with ripe white pear, orchard fruits, candied orange and a savoury twist on the finish. Very well balanced and drinking beautifully now.

Shilda Winery is located in the Alazani River Valley at the foot of the Caucasus mountains, the heartland of Georgian wine producing region, Kakheti.
