Food match: Drinks very nicely well chilled on its own of course (but not on your own - this is the sociable drink par excellence after all!), but also recommended with light nibbles, salads and simple fish dishes.

Classic slow second fermentation in bottle followed by maturing on the lees for at least 22 months before being disgorged and released for sale.

Grapes are grown in Casa Berger vineyards beneath the slopes of Montserrat in Alt Penedes. Harvested at night, mixed and chilled in dry ice, then spent 2h macerating before being fermented for 25 days. Aged for 10-12 months before release.
Garnacha imparts delicious red berry flavours, Monastrell is responsible for the beautiful colour - floral on the nose, with red apple and pear notes leading to a crisp and lively wine with signature toasty cava finish.

When it comes to English wine there’s a lot to shout about, not least the stunning sparkling wines from Henners. Based just 4 miles from the sea in Herstmonceux, East Sussex, the 10 acre vineyard was created in 2007 by ex-Formula One engineer, Lawrence Warr. Planted with traditional champagne varieties of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, the vines thrive in an idyllic microclimate created by the vineyard’s proximity of the sea, low altitude (only 24 masl) and steep sunny south facing slopes. This delicious English sparkling wine is pretty much equal quantities of Chardonnay , Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier with 15% Reserve Wine from previous vintages going right back to 2010.

It was disgorged in late 2021 after four years on the lees. It still has plenty of room for development and will continue to improve for five or more years.

Founded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. It also remains one of the most prestigious, considered by many collectors and connoisseurs as the world’s preeminent name in luxury champagne. In 2009, this storied winemaker celebrated a landmark 425-year anniversary.

Gosset's reputation for excellence starts on the vines. The Champagnes are composed almost entirely of grapes from Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards. Unlike most Champagne producers, this illustrious wine house purposely avoids malolactic fermentation and always performs riddling and disgorging of prestige cuvées and large-format bottles by hand. Gosset Champagnes are made with infinite care and kept in dark cellars for at least three years – and up to five for vintage and prestige cuvées – before release.

Vegan. 10% of the base wine finishes alcoholic fermentation in used barriques and matures there for 5 months. Tirage is carried out in spring time of the following year. The wine has 36 months of ageing on the lees. Dosage added is 7 grams/litre (Satèn can only be produced as a Brut style). Satèn also has a lower pressure (less than 4.5 atmospheres) than other Franciacorta wines and this is responsible for its distinctive softness.

Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and round, with a generous core of fruit, bright acidity and a wonderful mousse, it has a long, saline finish.

The Pfister domaine is located in the village of Dahlenheim in the northern tip of Alsace, just west of Strasbourg. The name “Breit” comes from the “lieu-dit” Hangenbreite, “the wide slope”. It is a steep, marl-limestone hillside, where the three grape varieties making up this wine grow.

Corpinnat is a Spanish wine designation for traditional method sparkling wines aged for a minimum of 18 months and made from manually harvested, organic or biodynamically farmed grapes in the Penedès. This is a very sophisticated, dry rosé that has fresh notes of strawberries and raspberries and a long elegant finish.
