Twenty year old vines from their the Morandina vineyard near the Lessini mountains is at 450 metres altitude. Soils are limestone, calcareous and the site has a south-easterly exposure.It is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, plus a tiny bit of Oseleta, the vine shoots are cut allowing the grapes to dry for a month on the vine before harvesting. After fermentation the wine is aged for 18 months in barrel.

A wine that beautifully captures the signature minerality of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation.

Casa Althay is a relatively new winery built in the heart of La Geria, just outside the village of Uga on the island of Lanzarote. They work with traditional viticulture including many of the craters, which lie next to the winery itself. The wines combine a beautiful creamy textural element with a saline, mineral precision. Their wines are of exceptionally high quality and complex character.

Regarded as one of the best sites in the region, Montestefano does not disappoint! Complex aromas of red fruit, blood orange, sweet spice and cedar wood. Juicy, rich and full bodied with a mid palate and finish that goes on forever. Very elegant and refined. Special wine!

The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is one of the most elegant, polished wines in this range. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, spice, mint and cedar are beautifully lifted. The tannins are remarkably polished for a young, recently bottled Riserva. I admire its poise and elegance. This is an especially refined edition of the Montestefano. In 2020, the mix of vineyards is a bit younger than in the past, as one of the blocks of older vineyards was replanted and not used. If I could have only one of the Riservas in 2020, this would be it!

Deep and complex aromas of blackberry, rose petals, sweet spice and balsamic glaze. Juicy, rich and full bodied with lots of flavour. Morello cherry, cranberry, liquorice and ground white pepper with a backbone of vibrant acidity and grippy tannins.

The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is gorgeous. It offers a beguiling mix of intense fruit and supporting structure. A wine of depth and complexity, Asili has a lot of everything. It is clearly a step or two above many of the wines in this range. Today, the 2020 comes across as a bit somber, but that may partly be a reflection of its recent bottling. There is gorgeous depth and resonance in the Asili.

Beautiful golden colour. The nose is very floral, with strong notes of elderflower, as well as citrus fruit, spices, and some verbena. On the palate, it shows amazing freshness despite its age, elegance, and refinement. On the palate, there are flavours of lemon, freshly cut grass, cedar, verbena, and it has remarkable salinity. The wine has a persistent length and great finesse.

The Cirò DOC is a picturesque corner of the Mediterranean, along the Ionian coast, in the eastern foothills of the Calabria region, a large peninsula that forms the toe to Italy’s boot. The Parrilla family, who own and run Tenuta del Conte, have been making wine here for four generations, the latest of which to take over the estate are Mariangela, Giuseppe, and Caterina.

In 2011 Mariangela Parrilla took over as winemaker. Mariangela takes a philosophical approach to winemaking, with the aim to let these traditional indigenous grape varieties speak for themselves and their terroir. Her wines are all organic, no herbicides or chemicals are used at any stage of the production process, she opts for spontaneous fermentations using indigenous yeasts, no filtration, and solely stainless-steel and bottle aging. Taking each wine vintage by vintage she lets them evolve and age “according to their own natural rhythm”, making each wine unique. This could be just one year in bottle before release or over 10 years. Not only does she capture the unique character of the grape variety but that of the vintage it's from too.


Together with a handful of other wineries in the area, Mariangela is part of “The Cirò Revolution”, a group formed to promote and protect their territory’s identity. They are dedicated to organic viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking, they make traditional wines, in homage to their ancestors, from native grape varieties.

Made from a single vineyard of nearly 100 year - old grenache vines  and entirely fermented and aged in new large french oak barrels for 11 months.

Jable de Tao is winemaker Carmelo Peña's expression of the Lanzarote island. A field blend of four native varieties (Malvasía Volcanica, Listán Blanco, Listán Negro and Diego) from a variety of soils and aspects. Carmelo’s intention is to bottle the nuanced terroirs of Lanzarote under a unique wine. The wine is direct pressed into barrel, concrete tanks and large foudres, where it ferments and ages. The wine has hints of lemony cream on the nose followed by limes and green apples. On the palate, it is textured and creamy with hints of lemon rind and a long, saline, mineral finish.

Domaine Regnard’s Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc is 100% Chardonnay, grown on clay limestone soils rich in iron oxide, lending mineral tension and structure. Hand-harvested fruit undergoes fermentation and full malolactic conversion in oak, with 12 months’ ageing (40% new) followed by three months in stainless steel.

The nose is delicate, restrained and elegant with its grapefruit, greengage, chamomile and apple blossom aromas and whiffs of exotic spice. The floral character of the nose follows through onto a richly textured mid-palate, showing yellow peach, poached pear and nectarine against a backdrop of fresh mandarin and green fig flavours with integrated acidity and a full body. The ripe stone fruit character adds to the complexity on the palate and the spicy finish with hints of fenugreek, black cardamom and Cape fynbos complements a very balanced wine.

96 points. Boekenhoutskloof's world-class Semillon uses grapes from three distinct blocks in Franschhoek, planted in 1902, 1936 and 1942, combining these with 3% Muscat d'Alexandrie. Showing more acidity and restraint than the stunning 2020, and less of the struck match character, it has notes of lemongrass, custard and beeswax and a core of chiselled acidity. Drinking 2024-32

Wow - This is beautiful, and a masterclass in balance. Rich stone fruit, apples, pears, and quince. Hints of spice, orange zest apple strudel, and a great backbone of acidity make this a very delicious wine indeed. Rabourcé is one of the warmest sites in Rully and lends itself very well to creating fruit forward wines with spice and texture. This wine was not produced in 2021 - so a good vintage to stock up and keep!

A very rare grape variety, mostly found in the Canary Islands, particularly Tenerife. The vines are 'pie franco' or ungrafted ancient specimens that thus far have managed to avoid the dreaded Phylloxera bug which devastated many European vineyards in the 19th century. The wine is complex, concentrated and flinty with aromas of green herbs, apples and quince. 6 months in barrel and on its lees has given the wine a beautiful texture and long, saline finish.
