The Meth`Imon Acacia Assyrtiko 2022 has seductive aromas of candied lemon, hay, mandarin zest and quince. Fresh and zesty in the mouth with a fleshy mid-palate with 1% of Sauvignon Blanc added to the blend.

Skin contact and 30% whole bunch fermentation gives this wine depth of flavour and a hint of tannin, while still retaining the typicity of Assyrtiko. This wine shows fantastic integration, spending ten months spent on lees in acacia barrels.

Drinking well now but will age up to 10 years.

Dougos Winery was founded in 1991 by Thanos and Louiza Dougos. Thanos is the viticulturist and Louiza is the winemaker and together they make wines from indigenous Greek varieties as well as blends with international grapes. They also operate one of Greece's oldest vine nurseries, which was established in 1950. Production is small, peaking at around 70,000 bottles per year. The winery is located in the Tempi Valley, on the foothills of Mount Olympus, in what constitutes the PDO Rapsani, in the Thessaly region. The vineyards are planted in iron-rich schist soils at altitudes of 450-700 metres. These soils are hardy and the iron content is important as it helps regulate the water capacity of the soil. The vineyards are cultivated without the use of irrigation, at low yields, and are certified organic.

The wines are very true to their origin and are always elegant, refined and expressive, and never dominated by new oak. The 300 litre acacia barrels used for the Assyrtiko are always only lightly or not at all toasted, in order to not overpower the intricate qualities.

 

Made solely from Chardonnay, this is a serious and elegant Crémant du Jura. On the nose it is creamy; on the palate well balanced with good depth and classic Champagne-esque toasted brioche flavours and creamy notes evident again, giving this complex wine an appealing softness.

Domaine de Désiré Petit’s Crémant is made using the ‘methode traditionelle’, from Chardonnay purposely grown on poor soils to maintain good acidity in the wine. Bottling is generally carried out during the January to March following harvest, after which the wine spends 12 to 15 months on its lees before disgorgement and dosage of 0.6cl per litre.

This cool climate Aussie Pinot punches above its weight.

Surprisingly restrained and elegant for what was a warm ripening season. There are layers of complexity here. Lifted aromatics of tart cherry, fresh tobacco leaves and candied ginger, the palate is supported by a fine acidity, gentle tannins & alluring savoury characteristics of dried red earth, leather and pencil shavings.

The Cirò DOC is a picturesque corner of the Mediterranean, along the Ionian coast, in the eastern foothills of the Calabria region, a large peninsula that forms the toe to Italy’s boot. The Parrilla family, who own and run Tenuta del Conte, have been making wine here for four generations, the latest of which to take over the estate are Mariangela, Giuseppe, and Caterina.

In 2011 Mariangela Parrilla took over as winemaker. Mariangela takes a philosophical approach to winemaking, with the aim to let these traditional indigenous grape varieties speak for themselves and their terroir. Her wines are all organic, no herbicides or chemicals are used at any stage of the production process, she opts for spontaneous fermentations using indigenous yeasts, no filtration, and solely stainless-steel and bottle aging. Taking each wine vintage by vintage she lets them evolve and age “according to their own natural rhythm”, making each wine unique. This could be just one year in bottle before release or over 10 years. Not only does she capture the unique character of the grape variety but that of the vintage it's from too.


Together with a handful of other wineries in the area, Mariangela is part of “The Cirò Revolution”, a group formed to promote and protect their territory’s identity. They are dedicated to organic viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking, they make traditional wines, in homage to their ancestors, from native grape varieties.

PUD PUD Cherry Gin starts life as our distilled PUD PUD Gin (winter seasonal Christmas gin) however, in July, towards the end of the cherry season we take delivery of the seconds and not so pretty lapin cherries from Horwood Cherries in Bucks. We add the PUD PUD Gin and fresh cherries to bourbon casks and rest them for a time to let the flavours and colour infuse. This gin is juniper forward with light spices and fruit from distilled Christmas pudding. Fresh orange peel adds a touch of additional citrus and it gains gentle sweetness from the cherries and soft vanilla notes from the oak cask. There is no added sugar. PUD PUD Cherry Gin is a rich, dark cherry red and best served with an Indian tonic water to open up the flavour. 50cl, 40% ABV.

Pale golden colour with a floral, herbal nose. Notes butter yellow peach, almond, hazelnut spice on the palate with a saline and mineral finish.

Three generations of Chablis winemakers stand before Vincent and Sophie Wengier, who today produce wines under Vincent's name. In the southwest of the appellation, in the village of Préhy, the Wengier couple decided to put their own name to their wines in 2018 when they bottled their first Chablis. An area previously overlooked for expressive Chablis, the Wengier wines have entered the world to much acclaim. Their careful attention to detail in the vineyards, which will be certified organic from 2023, along with long slow fermentations have resulted in a line-up of wines that is completely captivating.

This bone dry excellent example of Pouilly Fumé is elegant and well balanced with a light smoky aroma and a hint of gunflint and elderberry. A wonderful Loire Valley white with layers of clean Sauvignon blanc fruit combined with added complexity due to the minerality derived from the soils.

Paul Wallace, who has worked as a viticultural consultant to many of South Africa’s top
estates, finally had his dream come true in 2003 - he purchased his family farm in Elgin
and, alongside his wife Nicky, put his life’s work to the test. Based on his belief that Elgin
would become one of South Africa’s premium cool climate regions, he threw caution
to the wind and pulled out groves of apple and pear trees, replacing them with vines.
As always, his advice proved sage, and Paul Wallace is now producing some incredibly
exciting wines that show exceptional finesse and clarity.

Under stars, by a campfire, a gin was born. Campfire London Dry Gin pitches camp on the boundary between classic and contemporary styles. Ten botanicals including rooibos, sweet, fresh orange, hazelnut* and piney juniper are distilled with the finest UK wheat spirit. A citrus nose and juniper palate yield to a rich fruity middle and a sweet nutty finish.

Campfire Cask Aged, has dominant gin notes of juniper, citrus and coriander seed which are infused with a hint of caramel, fruity bourbon and vanilla. This is achieved through ageing in specially selected American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The wood also imparts a golden hue to this small batch gin. This is an oak aged gin but it’s not oaky or woody.

A departure from our core botanicals was required to create Campfire Old Tom Gin – a gin that emulates the spicier, sweeter profile of Old Tom gins. Co-founded in 1990 by wine writer Hugh Johnson, Royal Tokaji has quickly become one of the most important wineries in Tokaj, producing sweet and dry wines. This crisp, dry white is made from 100% Harslevelu grapes and is part of the limited edition "By Appointment" portfolio. It's intensely dry with a citrus acidity, minerality and lovely length.
