False Bay Wine

‘Wild Yeast Fermentation’ refers to the practice of letting the naturally occurring yeast in the environment to run the fermentation (rather than using cultured yeasts). Although wild yeast fermentations require closer care and attention by the winemaker, the results are a more complex and interesting wine.

Recently elevated to Garda DOC, this Garganega Pinot Grigio is selected from high quality vineyards in the area between Lake Garda and Vicenza. The addition of Garganega makes a more interesting, characterful wine than many basic Pinot Grigios. It evokes thoughts of summer evenings sipping wine by the shores of the lake!

Lightly aromatic with ripe stone fruit and citrus characters. A zesty, easy to drink dry white wine with considerable texture and soft, lightly honeyed fruit on the finish.

As you walk through the rolling vineyards of the 700 hectare Cramele Recas estate, two things are inescapable. The first is the scale of the transformation that Englishman Philip Cox and his wife Elvira have managed to achieve, replanting 700 hectares of decrepit vineyards and replacing them with immaculately tended sites the equal of anywhere else in the world. The second is that if you didn't know where you were, you'd be convinced you were in Tuscany or any other "Classic" wine producing region. And, to a certain extent you are, Romania has a history of wine making stretching back millennia and it was this potential that has driven this dynamic duo to dedicate their lives to driving forward Romanian wine making to it's current state of rude health. Domaine du Pre Semele is located in Maimbray in the town of Sury-en-Vaux 5 km north of Sancerre. The vineyard has been passed on for four generations now and we want to remain a family structure. This wonderful Piedmont wine is a fresh yet complex Gavi, made with established and old vine fruit. Made by winemaker Claudio Manera, the grapes are hand-picked, pressed and undergo temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. The wine then remains on its lees for 3 months. 

A Viognier of intense power, character and zest; soft apricots, honeydew melon with notes of chamomile tea are followed by a rich palate and long perfumed finish.
