2020 gave us a long summer which enabled the fruit to ripen to its potential and produces a wine busting with fruit character. Deeply coloured and concentrated this wine has great potential to develop over the next few years. Drinking now the wine really comes to life in a large glass which gives the wine every opportunity to release all its aromas.

A Rhône Valley style shows wonderful black fruit perfumes of super-ripe black-cherry with background hints of pretty white-flower jasmine. Fine French oak contributes with gentle vanilla and cinnamon spice. The palate is plush and velvety – the shiraz 95% shows as blackcurrant with dark berry richness and cassis adding a dense yet satiny gloss. Viognier 5% is about opulence with luxuriant polished softness with extra elements of flower and spice. Co-fermenting has gifted an extra degree of lift and length to the palate, combining the flavours for a great young drinking style.

These thoughtful, hand-crafted wines hail from the Hunter Valley with a nod in part to the great Rhône Valley wines of Hermitage and Cote Rôtie. For those who may have tasted any legendary Hunter Shiraz wines of the 40s, 50s and 60s, tasting many of the modern Hunter wines can be a depressing experience but Keith Tulloch is very different, adding to that great legacy with a series of wines that uniquely capture the exotic spice and hedonistic pleasure of dense and rich Shiraz fruit. These are sensuous, subtle wines with the velvety texture of fine burgundy.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is lifted and floral pure aromas of sweet violets, black cherries and hints of wet stone. It impresses further with silky textures that envelop the palate in bright red and blue fruits, along with a refreshing wave of juicy acidity. Hints of spiced orange and inner florals linger long through the lightly structured finale. This is an equal-parts blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato that is aimed at immediate satisfaction, but in a nicely balanced style.

Ruby red colour with garnet reflexes. Red fruit flavours, but also slightly minty reminiscent of eucalyptus. Black cherries, cardamom, white pepper and black chocolate on the palate with fine tannins from grapes harvested at full maturity.

Giuaani Winery is located in the historic village of Manavi, the heartland of Georgian wine producing region, Kakheti. The Manavi village, cradled by the southern slopes of the minor Caucasus, is a home to one of the 29 PDOs (Protected Denomination of Origin) of Georgia. Its unique soil composition and microclimate provides perfect conditions for vine cultivation, especially for Kakhuri Mtsvane grape variety, and for the production of Manavi PDO white dry wines.

Vibrant aromatic of blueberries and black plums with a hint of toasty oak. The generous, rich palate is packed full of juicy red and black fruits and underpinned by a fine tannin profile. A balanced wine with a persistent fruit finish.

Georgia is considered to be the ‘cradle of wine', as 8,000 year-old indigenous Rkatsiteli grape seeds have been found in clay vessels.

Bright, lifted, fresh aromas of red and dark fruits. On the palate it is slightly creamy yet very fresh with a hint of spice on the finish. Lovely balance, very bright and easy.

Fruity, juicy and elegant body with good structure. Leather and loquoric notes, finishing with fine and intriguing aftertaste of blackcurrant and tobacco leaves.

Coming from Puglia’s cooler northern shores, Caiaffa's Nero di Troia has notes of red and dark fruits; blackberries, and dark cherry, with a smoky undertone. The palate is medium-bodied and bright with an almost creamy, velvet-like texture. This is a real easy-drinker, ever so moreish!

Nero D' Avola from Ausralia? The bright cherry and raspberry fruits of this sit deliciously beside a savoury and herbaceous spiciness. The wine at the moment is very youthful, mid weight, with nice fresh, berry fruit on the nose and subtle French oak characters.

Place of the Gods Farm, Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, Walker Bay, Hermanus. This dryland vineyard is situated just 12 km from the sea and lies at 300 m above sea-level. The soils are granite origin with a significant portion of clay. Pinot noir clones are 115 and 667. The vineyard was planted in 2006

A beautiful deep purple colour. Floral and herbal notes like lavender and mint on the nose, with mineral hints of graphite, cigars box and cedar. Fresh and elegant palate, fresh acidity, smooth tannins, a long finish. You can drink it now or it can be aged by 7 years.

The Gil family have been major wine producers in Jumilla since the early 20th Century. Bodegas Juan Gil is dedicated to producing powerful, yet approachable and modern wines, mainly based on Monastrell (aka Mourvedre) which is grown on about 80% of the vineyard.

The winery has invested heavily in its Organic and Sustainability programmes in recent years.

The terroir across the Côtes de Gascogne area is transitional, with the maritime effect of the Atlantic ocean giving way to a more continental climate in the east of Gers. In the east, summers are warmer and drier, and the clay limestone soils retain water more effectively. Nearer the coast, loose, sandy soils with good drainage and high rainfall characterize the vineyards.
