Twenty year old vines from their the Morandina vineyard near the Lessini mountains is at 450 metres altitude. Soils are limestone, calcareous and the site has a south-easterly exposure.It is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, plus a tiny bit of Oseleta, the vine shoots are cut allowing the grapes to dry for a month on the vine before harvesting. After fermentation the wine is aged for 18 months in barrel.

Forest aromas and concentrated fruit aromas of blueberries and cherries mark this red wine. Its elegant ruby colour is the feature of the filigree nature that one then finds on the palate. Lively fruit, ripe tannins and a long sophisticated finish are the strong characteristics of this delightful variety and the wine it produces.

Intense red cherry fruit aromas on the nose and palate. This ‘baby Barolo’ is made from Nebbiolo grapes from selected sites in the Langhe region giving a delicious, medium bodied wine  with garnet highlights and a wonderful scent of ripe prunes. This is a really well-balanced wine, rounded and smooth, and expresses the typical characteristics of the Nebbiolo varietal and its terroir. 4Kilos was set up in 2006 by former Anima Negra winemaker Francesc Grimalt and musician Sergio Caballero. Grimalt rescued the Balearic variety Callet and they also have small amounts of local variety Fogoneu. Taking grapes from north and south Mallorca they vinify them in a converted sheep farm using a combination of stainless steel and open top oak fermenters. The name 4 Kilos comes from their initial investment of 4 million pesetas, which so far looks like money well spent. They work in a very low-intervention style, using only low/no sulphur and they harvest earlier than most with the goal of making fresh, but complex, wines that speak of the island they’re from.

Deep ruby garnet in colour, the nose is perfumed with layers of cedar wood, white pepper, black olive and clove which compliment notes of black plum, prune and mulberry fruit with a seem of blackcurrant. Elegant, dried cranberry on the palate moving into rich plum flavours supported by hints of cassis and perfumed, sweet tobacco leaf lingering with a finish that is long and structured.

The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Montestefano is one of the most elegant, polished wines in this range. Bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, spice, mint and cedar are beautifully lifted. The tannins are remarkably polished for a young, recently bottled Riserva. I admire its poise and elegance. This is an especially refined edition of the Montestefano. In 2020, the mix of vineyards is a bit younger than in the past, as one of the blocks of older vineyards was replanted and not used. If I could have only one of the Riservas in 2020, this would be it!

Deep and complex aromas of blackberry, rose petals, sweet spice and balsamic glaze. Juicy, rich and full bodied with lots of flavour. Morello cherry, cranberry, liquorice and ground white pepper with a backbone of vibrant acidity and grippy tannins.

The 2020 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is gorgeous. It offers a beguiling mix of intense fruit and supporting structure. A wine of depth and complexity, Asili has a lot of everything. It is clearly a step or two above many of the wines in this range. Today, the 2020 comes across as a bit somber, but that may partly be a reflection of its recent bottling. There is gorgeous depth and resonance in the Asili.

Drinking window 2025- 2045

Deep dark cherry colour. The complexity of this beautifully crafted wine is shown through mature red and dark fruit aromas with some cacao and herbs. Generous in body with soft powerful tannins and cooked fruit notes and so beautifully balanced on the finish. Food Match: Venison, veal, BBQ, roasted beef, stew, game, roasted lamb chops with ratatouille, grilled vegetable, cheeses, roasted oxtail.

Vinified under the strict supervision of the Rabbi from the Habat Jewish Community of Barcelona. This is a Certified kosher wine: Lo mevushal (not pasteurized) and Le Pessaj.

Nestled in the rugged hills of the Catalan countryside, in the tiny village bearing its name, is the well-respected Celler de Capçanes. It was this wild Montsant landscape which first captivated Jürgen Wagner back in the early 90s, but the huge potential he recognised in this unique village co-operative that determined what followed. Pouring all his efforts into working with the growers to nurture the best from their vineyards and the most honest expressions of their terroir, Celler de Capçanes has established itself as one of the most engaging wineries in the area.

Bright ruby red in colour. Intensely, fragrant, and floral, with notes of white pepper and wild strawberries on the nose. The palate is fresh and delicate, with great structure and balance. Perfect to chill in the summer if the outside temperature is high.

Pelaverga is not a very widely grown grape variety, native to the Verduno commune in Piemonte. The soil in this area of the North West of Italy is rich in clay and gypsum crystals. Poderi Colla have hand harvested the rare Pelaverga grapes. Sometimes also labelled as 'Basadone' which translates as 'little kiss' the Pelaverga grape is known locally as a supposed aphrodisiac!

Pronounced red fruits and black cherry aromas. Elegant medium bodied red with notes of ripe plums and black berries, spices and vanilla, vibrant crisp acidity and complex long finish.
