A Port of deep ruby colour with intense aromas of plums, fresh berries and liquorice revealing immense complexity. Very fruity on the palate, with round tannins in a perfectly balanced structure.

Late Bottled Vintage Ports unlike Vintages are only bottled 4 years after their ageing period in oak. This process of Late Bottling allows the wine to benefit from oxygenic evolution in large barrels making them soft, round and enjoyable to drink now. The LBV Port has been an alternative for Vintage Port lovers who prefer not to wait for long-term bottle ageing. 

Brick red appearance, with a very rich aroma of very ripe fruit (grapes and overripe figs) as well as dried fruits (nuts and almonds),caramel and coffee. On the palate fresh and elegant with good acidity. The long finish is dominated by dried fruits.

This Port has a beautiful red gold appearance in the glass. Expressing aromas of dried cranberry, raisin and rich plum. As well as notes of cedar and Christmas pudding. 

On the palate this wine is lusciously balanced with flavours of candied orange peel and plum. Followed by a lasting, spicy finish.

Crusted Port is a type of Ruby Port, blended from several year and that is unfiltered. It is left to mature for atleast 3 years in bottle in which time it develops a sediment called 'crust' which is why it needs decanting before serving.

On the nose: wild berries and dark fruit are evident which follow through on the palate with a smooth velvety texture and are wonderfully contrasted with a delightfully rustic tannic finish.

This wine will benefit from being served slightly chilled (12 - 16ºC). It doesn't need to be decanted , and it's worth noting that colheitas can be enjoyed for a while after opening without losing freshness and vibrancy - optimum drinking time after opening is 2-3 months.

The Douro Valley has been the home of Port for centuries. More recently, many Quinta or wine estates have been turning their hand to making elegant and often long lived still red and white wine. Quinta da Pedra Alta is one of those producers. We have been very impressed with João Pires' modern winemaking techniques, capturing the potential of still wines from this beautiful country.

The Quinta da Pedra Alta (high stone) winery is located in Soutelinho Favaios near Alijó, in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley, Portugal. Quinta da Pedra Alta is the only vineyard in the Douro to have three granite markers (Marcos Pombalinos) on its property. These were awarded to the best land during the demarcation of the Port region in 1761. Winemakers Matt Gant and João Pires share the same vision when it comes to making wines: they endeavour to find the essence of what the land has to offer.
