Rioja is probably the most famous of Spanish wine regions, renowned for its red wines aged for long periods in oak barrels. The Tempranillo grape, the mainstay of Rioja, has such lovely flavours though that it is great to taste unoaked versions to appreciate the flavours ‘unadulterated’. Perfect with a mixture of tapas or just on its own, this wine is the essence of Rioja in a bottle. 

A modern style Rioja Joven with juicy fruit driven characters of black cherry and raspberry combined with subtle sweet vanilla spice. Medium – bodied with a creamy smoothness leading into a fresh finish.

A classic Rioja Reserva with beautifully intertwined fruit and oak flavours.

Beautiful blackberry notes with spices, smoky and subtle nuances of vanilla, toffee and tobacco. An excellently balanced wine which offers layers of red berry fruits on the palate, laced with vanilla and hints of mocha.

Beautiful brick red colour, with a complex aroma of roasted coffee, spices, vanilla, ripe fruits raisins, caramel, and subtle bottle ageing notes of leather, tobacco. Silky smooth tannins, and velvety finish.

Like the bodega's Reserva, this Gran Reserva is a cuvée of Tempranillo and 5% Graciano, with maturation in mostly French and 30% American oak barrels. Using grapes from two parcels in Villabuena de Álava-Carraelciego and Carracastellano-this is savoury and sweet, with notes of red berry fruit, toast, tobacco leaf, leather and forest floor. 2024-30. 92 Points, TA, 2023.

Normally associated with red wines, the region of Rioja also makes some really interesting and delicious whites. 

A fruity and refreshing style of white Rioja. The barrel fermentation gives vanilla and subtle spice aromas, with ripe citrus flavours and a crisp finish.

The Region:  Rioja is divided into three areas; Alta, Alavesa and Baja. Alta is the coolest and Baja is the hottest. Most Rioja's are blended from all three areas as many bodegas buy fruit from across Rioja to add complexity to their wines.

Bright straw yellow colour with brilliant greenish glints. Intense on the nose with tropical fruit, peach skin and citrus aromas. Balanced and well-structured on the palate with great acidity and a lengthy finish.

Hacienda el Ternero is a village which dates back to 1077 when it belonged to the Santa Maria de Herrerea Monastery. Notably, it is the only vineyard of DOC Rioja that lies within the region of Castilla y León. In 2009, the village was bought by the current owner. The 60 hectares of vineyards are in the Rioja Alta and sit at an altitude of 650m

Clean and bright, with a pale yellow colour with green hues. Good intensity on the nose, with tropical fruit and citrus flavours. On the palate, fresh and round, balanced with a good acidity, and fresh fruit aromas.

On the border between Rioja and Navarra, Victor Manzanos carries on the work of the four generations before him.

With over 250ha of owned vineyards at his disposal, including some of the oldest vines in Rioja, Bodegas Manzanos is fortunately placed to put both the sub-region of Rioja Oriental and the name Manzanos firmly on the map as one of the most important areas and producers in Rioja. This range of wines is a modern take on the traditional landscape of Rioja, championing the native grape varieties, Tempranillo, Viura and Garnacha. The team is the youngest in the region, a talented a group of people with the sole purpose of making wines that people will enjoy.

A long maceration of 28 days at a controlled temperature and 24 months ageing in American and French oak casks, half and half, followed by a further twelve months rounding off in the bottle. This has all gone to produce a wine with great body and extract.

Super interesting gift for a RIOJA lover. Great acidity and concentration defines this vintage in Rioja generally. Aged for 15 months in French oak barrels- this is a modern Reserva style Rioja from old vines plots.

Beronia III a.c is a red wine made by Bodegas Beronia, located in the heart of the Rioja Alta. Beronia combines the tradition of La Rioja with cutting edge and innovative ideas. Bodegas Beronia constantly investing in wine development and all of their vines are grown organically. 

This wine is made with Tempranillo (92%), Graciano (4%) and Mazuelo (4%) grapes from vineyards over 55 years old. 

The grapes, after the alcoholic fermentation, macerate and begin ageing in new French oak barrels. After six months the wine is transferred to semi-new barrels, where it ages for 15 month

Predominantly Tempranillo, with a dash of Garnacha, aged for 12 months in French and American oak, with velvety cherry, spice, plum and rounded tannins.
