Caruso & Minini are a part of new revival in Sicilian wine. Smaller wineries have sprung up in the past decade with private investment and strong interest in the potential of the native grapes from Sicily. One example is Caruso & Minini. When Mario Manini met Stefano Caruso is sparked a long-held dream to produce a wine in the historical winemaking region of Marsala in Western Sicily.

The lesser known Catarratto grape variety thrives in the sun-drenched vineyards of Sicily, producing wines that shout of mediterranean fire and passion.

Crisp and zesty with hints of almond on the aroma. Flavours of peach, tropical fruit and a refreshing citrus twist on the finish.

The wine has a deep purple-red colour & intense aromas of blackberries & blueberries. The palate is soft & silky, bursting with spicy flavours of black pepper, dark chocolate, wild berries & vanilla.  The tannins are elegant yet persistent.  The finish is long & lingering and offers a burst of wild cherries at the end.

Fun Fact: Zensa in Italian means “without” referring to the absence of any chemicals or pesticides in the winemaking process. 

Straw yellow in colour with an elegant bouquet, reminiscent of pineapples and lemons. The palate shows hints of tropical fruit with a beautifully crisp acidity and a persistent finish. Only the best, handpicked, organically grown grapes are used to make this wine!

Evro originates from Rallo’s exceptional estate vineyards in Alcamo, in one of Sicilia’s premier growing areas. Pale yellow to straw yellow with light green reflections. The bouquet shows citrusy notes and marked apple scent. There is a distinct minerality on the palate – a trademark of Rallo’s wines – with rich mouth-feel and persistent finish. This is a seductive wine.

On the west side of Sicily close to Marsala, Cantine Rallo has its vineyards and winery.

This ‘Orange’ wine is bright yet slightly cloudy in colour thanks to the natural approach to winemaking; with no stabilisation, fining or filtration resulting in a wine with very low sulphur levels. The bouquet is a beautiful mix of citrus, grapefruit, apple and white flesh fruits that follows onto the palate. Complemented by Mediterranean herbs and a backbone of fresh acidity.

Cerasuolo di Vittoria is lifted and floral pure aromas of sweet violets, black cherries and hints of wet stone. It impresses further with silky textures that envelop the palate in bright red and blue fruits, along with a refreshing wave of juicy acidity. Hints of spiced orange and inner florals linger long through the lightly structured finale. This is an equal-parts blend of Nero d'Avola and Frappato that is aimed at immediate satisfaction, but in a nicely balanced style.
