A delicious dark ale from the isle of Colonsay
This classic Scots ale is as dark and brooding as the storms which sweep across our remote Atlantic outcrop. Some detect a savoury note – perhaps from the peat in our water or the sea salt in the air – but our dark roasted barley, chocolate malt character is unmistakable, making this a dark beer to rival them all.
Brewing beer on an island is challenge enough. Brewing beer on a remote Hebridean island of 120 people, accessible by boat (weather permitting) some two-and-a-half hours from the Scottish mainland is another thing altogether. Colonsay is not just any Scottish island. It is the smallest island in the world with its own brewery.
