Domaine Besson is a family-owned estate located in Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise, covering 8.40 hectares of vines. It has been property of the Besson family since the 1930s and headed by Guillemette and Xavier Besson since 1989. Their son Henri-Vital joined the business in 2017. They focus on creating wines which are the true expression on the terroir and make some of the few white wines that are made in Givry.
The Givry blanc Haut-Colombier comes from a plot of 0.50 hectares named Le Petit-Prétan located just in front of the house. The average age of the vines is 30 years old. Located at the bottom of the hillside, the soil is deep but stony, producing a wine that is full, framed by the age of the vines and their deeper roots, with a beautiful viscosity on the palate.
