Grapes: Frappato, Nero d'Avola
The winery takes its name from “Contrada Bastonaca”, a district in Ragusa (Sicily) which has always been considered the heart of the production of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato and Nero d’Avola. An area of 15 hectares of vines trained with the ancient and peculiar method called “Alberello” (Head-trained) and thousand of olive trees shading the vineyards. Their estate is in the last year of conversion to organic farming, their goal is to making scrumptious Mediterranean wines using only the grapes of their vineyard in the most sustainable way. Recently Bastanaca has acquired a 1 hectare plot of 50 year-old-vines of Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio
placed in Castiglione di Sicilia (Solicchiata district) on Mount Etna.
